Tuesday, October 7, 2008 — The North Stanly tennis team saw their 10-game winning streak end this past Thursday afternoon.
A tough, visiting Forest Hills squad handed the Comets their first loss of the season 6-2.
The loss for the Comets cost them a share of the Rocky River Conference regular season championship.
Hannah Herlocker suffered her first conference loss of her career 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 in in the match.
Jessica Napier also lost in a third-set tiebreaker at the #4 seed, losing 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (7-3).
The only wins of the match for the Comets came at the number five and six-seeded singles’ matches.
At the #5 spot, Elizabeth Deeck earned a 6-1, 6-2 straight sets victory.
Kaylee Burgess was a winner in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 in the sixth-seeded match.
Forest Hills then won the number-one and two seeded doubles matches with scores of 8-4 and 8-2. The third-seeded doubles match did not play.
The Rocky River Conference tournament starts Wednesday in Monroe.
