Thursday, September 4, 2008 — The Albemarle women’s tennis team opened their 2008 season on a sweltering Wednesday afternoon with a match against Yadkin Valley Conference powerhouse East Montgomery.
Fighting the heat and good opponents, Albemarle lost the match 8-1.
Sophia Pastorini played a close match with Eagle Myranda Blake, pushing their match into extra time but losing 9-7.
Anne Carlon Futterer also had a close score in singles’ play losing 8-5 to Danen Hinson.
Pastorini and Ashley Huneycutt notched the Bulldogs’ lone win of the match in number-one doubles, winning 9-7.
The Bulldogs will play Forest Hills today at 4 p.m.
