The North wrestling team entered Thursday’s home match against Albemarle in their usual fashion. As heavy metal rocks out the PA system, the Comets come running down the stairs from their practice room.
North made a strong exit as well, earning a 60-24 win over the Bulldogs Thursday.
North started with several forfeit wins, including Winston Lee (103), Ryan Jones (112), Josh Willis (119), Drew Beadle (125) and Colby Dunn (130).
Zack Leggett earned a pinfal victory in the 135-pound weight class for North Stanly.
Albemarle would then win pinfall victories in the next four weight classes. That streak included Damond Kelly’s win 1:24 into the the third period over Camren Summerlin at 152 pounds.
At 160 pounds, Albemarle’s Charlie Coggins earned a pinfall win over North’s Dustin Walker.
North Stanly wouldbreak that streak when Cas Stoker pinned Albemarle’s Manny Olivas.
The toughest match of the night was at 215 pounds, with Albemarle’s C.J. Simpson taking on North Stanly’s Jake Tester. Despite a cut over Tester’s eye, he pinned Simpson.
Jon Osbourne then earned a forfeit in the heavyweight division to seal the match for North Stanly.
