N. Stanly sweeps Cougars

Thursday, January 8, 2009 — The North Stanly basketball teams swept a doubleheader Wednesday night.

North Stanly 81, CATA 31

The Comet girls extended their win streak to 11 Wednesday night with an easy win at the Cougars.

Freshman center Lindsey Burleson led North (12-1, 8-0 RRC) with 15 points.

Alison Parker made six three-pointers and led CATA (2-9, 1-6 RRC) with 26.

“We didn’t shoot well the last two games, but we shot well tonight and got the ball inside,” North head coach Greg Speight said.

The Comet boys broke a six-game slide Wednesday night with a win over the Cougars.

Antwon Benson led North (5-8, 3-5 RRC) with 13 points.

“Tonight was our best effort of the season,” North head coach Darryl Mauldin said.
