Thursday, January 8, 2009 — The West Stanly boys’ basketball team used an early run to open up a lead they would not relinquish in an 80-63 road win at North Stanly on Tuesday.

Four West players reached double figures, with Warren Jackson and Steven Moses adding 12 points each and Chauncey Bruton had 10.

North would cut that lead to six points but the Colts extended the lead back to 10 at the end of the first quarter.
A Burton three-point play with 3:59 left in the second quarter capped a 11-5 burst that gave the Colts a 16-point lead
Wilson scored 14 in the first half and Moses added nine to give the Colts a 20-point halftime advantage.
West Stanly will be back at home on Friday when the Colts host RRC opponent Union Academy.
