Tuesday, January 6, 2009 — The basketball teams of Albemarle split a non-conference double header Monday night at East Montgomery.
Albemarle 61, East Montgomery 56 (OT)
Overcoming a slow start, the Albemarle boys rallied for a 61-56 overtime win.
Four Albemarle players reached double figures, with Jaquale Watson leading the Bulldogs (7-1, 4-1 RRC) with 17 points.
“We didn’t shoot very well but we did fight back and woke up in the second half,” Albemarle head coach Al Andrew said.
The second-place Bulldogs, who have won six in a row, will face the undefeated Forest Hills team in Marshville Wednesday.
“This game was good for us tonight. We learn from every game and hopefully we will be ready Wednesday night.”

A poor shooting performance by the ‘Dogs led to the girls’ second-straight loss of the season.
Paige McConologue led Albemarle (6-2, 3-1 RRC) and all scorers with 19 points.
Albemarle was just 15-of-70 from the floor (21 percent) in Monday’s game.
The Bulldogs will be at Forest Hills on Wednesday.
