Tuesday, March 16, 2010 —
Last year’s Uwharrie Wheelmen road race brought over 400 racers to Stanly County. This year, the race is set for March 20th at Kendall Valley Elementary School.
The Uwharrie Wheelmen Cycling Club, which is based in Stanly County, in conjunction with Team Pfeiffer Cycling will be hosting the United States Cycling Association sanctioned race.
The race will bring riders from the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia. Saturday’s race starts and finishes at Kendall Valley School.
The race start time is 9 a.m .and finish time is approximately 5 p.m. The 6.6-mile route includes Old Salisbury Road, Kendalls Church Road and NC-1440.
The Stanly County Sheriff’s department will have a lead vehicle in front of the cyclists at all times McCauley Chevrolet will be providing support vehicles that will be behind each field.
There will also be additional police officers and volunteers along the route to direct traffic. For more info or to register, visit pre-reg.com.
