The West Stanly softball team improved to 4-0 this season with a 28-1 win over Albemarle Monday afternoon at Rock Creek Park.
Emily B. Huneycutt earned the win on the mound, combining with Kasey Fowler to allow just one run on two hits.
Sarah Mauldin and Jessica Robinson each went 3-4 to lead the offense for the Colts as West had 18 hits in the game. Kasey Huneycutt, Macey Webb and Leigh Parrish each added two hits in the win for West Stanly.
Kristen Lyell was 1-2 to lead the offense for Albemarle (0-4).
West Stanly returns to Rocky River Conference play today, hosting Union Academy at 4:30 p.m. and traveing to Berry Academy on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 as well.
Albemarle hosts Gray Stone today at 4:30 p.m. then travels to North Stanly on Wednesday.

Falcons open season with 3-0 loss to Ball State
Fighting off late rallies by Pfeiffer University in sets two and three, visiting Ball State University was able to escape with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-23) sweep of the Falcons in the NCAA I Men’s Volleyball action on Saturday afternoon in Merner Gym.
