Three second half goals broke open a 1-1 contest at halftime as Pfeiffer University claimed a 4-1 win over visiting Mount Olive College in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action on Thursday afternoon.
The victory evens the Falcons’ mark to 3-3 overall, 2-1 in league play, while the Trojans dip to 1-5-1, 1-2.
Mount Olive’s first shot of the afternoon turned out to be a successful one as Ellie Barnes blasted her shot off of a Pfeiffer defender in the 10th minute deflecting inside the right post for a 1-0 Trojan lead.
The Falcons equalizer came in the 38th minute of play as Jill Maykut corralled a loose corner kick and found Stephanie Hardig who notched her first of the season with her goal inside the left post.
Sarah Yates gave Pfeiffer the second half lead in the 55th minute as Kayla Rodriguez’s rebounded free kick found Yates for the 2-1 advantage.
Katlyn Stevens later snagged a loose ball in the 70th minute and found Rachael Ramey who converted her first of the season. Stevens would then tally the match’s final strike in the 75th minute thanks to a long pass from Katie Collins.
Pfeiffer outshot Mount Olive 18-8 overall, 7-4 on goal. The Falcons took all 10 corners in the match as well.
