Tuesday, March 9, 2010 — The South Stanly softball team improved to 2-0 in conference and overall with a 16-0 three-inning victory over Albemarle on Friday.
Nikki Whitley and Allison Smith combined for the no-hit shutout for South. Whitley struck out three with no walks in the first two innings while Smith had two strikeouts and no walks in the third inning.
Sara Kimrey was 3-3 for South Stanly with three doubles and four runs driven in.
Erin Thompson was also 3-3 for the Bulls with 2 RBIs, while Kaitlyn Murphy was 2-2 and four other players had hits for South.
The Bulls continue Yadkin Valley Conference play today at West Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. and host East Montgomery on Friday.
Albemarle will host South Davidson today and make up a game with East Montgomery on Wednesday.
