Legion to have Santa craft fair
American Legion Post 76 will host a Santa Social and Craft Fair from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Walter B. Hill American Legion Grounds, 24302 Hwy. 52 South, Albemarle.
The cost for entry is $2 and a canned food item to feed veterans for the holidays) or $3. There will be local vendors with their crafts and wares.
Warm up with hot coffee, cocoa or tea along with homemade desserts.
Santa will be here for pictures. -
American Legion seeking Gold Star mothers
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 520 is looking for Gold Star mothers. Unit 520 is wanting to contact Gold Star families to let them know that the White House is creating a Gold Star family tree this year and that local Gold Star families are encouraged to send a picture(s) of their loved ones to be included.
Please send them to www.whitehouse.gov/webform/holiday-participant-additional-information.

DAV honors mothers, wives of veterans
The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 12 of Albemarle honored mothers and wives of veterans at Spring Arbor of Albemarle at 2 p.m. Nov. 7.

RALEIGH – Gov. Bev Perdue today urged North Carolina employers to help unemployed veterans get back to work by taking advantage of a new federal tax credit for hiring veterans of the Armed Forces.

DAV to have auction
Disabled American Veterans will have an auction sale at 4 p.m. Nov. 19 to benefit the DAV Stanly County Chapter 12. The sale will be at 1450 N.C. 24-27 Bypass W., Albemarle in Burleson Square in the basement behind the building. Fourteen-year-old Bradley Thompson will conduct the auction sale.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 76 had the privilege of visiting with the men and women who have served our country at various capacities in the armed services and now reside at the assisted living facilities in Stanly County.

The 14th annual Stanly County Veterans Day Parade will be at 11 a.m.

The Legion Riders American Legion Post 520 clothing drive
The Legion Riders American Legion Post 520 will hold its fourth annual
clothing drive through Dec. 9.
Residents are encouraged to begin their winter clothing and are asked
to donate clean, useable, clothes for adult and children. This
includes coats, bedding, towels, etc, and please fold all items.
There will be two boxes displayed for participants to drop off their
belongings. One box will be located at God’s Country and the other one
will be at Locust Town Hall.
For all donations received, the Legion Riders will sort them and then
deliver them to the VA Hospital in Salisbury the weekend of Dec. 16. - More Service News Headlines
