Charlotte, NC – This holiday season enjoy Charlotte’s premier ballet talent choreographed with professional, international guest artists in the Charlotte Youth Ballet’s 30th Anniversary performance for The Nutcracker! This is Tchaikovsky’s classic holiday production with unique twists, lots of snow, laughter and the opportunity for after performance photos with dancers. Performances are Friday, November 30th through Sunday, December 2 at the Dale Halton Theater on CPCC’s main campus. Parking is FREE.
Tickets are $8 for Friday morning preview performances or $12-$25 for all other performances. 2014 NASCAR Hall Of Fame Class Announced
CHARLOTTE – NASCAR announced today the inductees who will comprise the 2014 class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The five-person group – the fifth in NASCAR Hall of Fame history – consists of Tim Flock, Jack Ingram, Dale Jarrett, Maurice Petty and Fireball Roberts. Next year’s Induction Day is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, broadcast on Fox Sports 1 from Charlotte.

Charlotte Muscle Team event raises $300,000 in fight against muscle disease
CHARLOTTE — The Muscular Dystrophy Association scored a huge win in the fight against muscular dystrophy at the annual Charlotte Muscle Team event held May 21 by raising more than $300,000 to help Charlotte-area families living with muscle disease.

Wingate University professor wins national award
Wingate, N.C. – Wingate University Assistant Professor of Religion, Heather McDivitt, has been selected as an Outstanding Advising Award Winner in the Faculty Academic Advising category from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). The award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students. She will be honored and presented with the award in Salt Lake City, UT during the NACADA Annual Conference this fall.

RALEIGH – The N.C. Education Lottery warns its players to be on alert about a lottery scam that appears to be targeting recent lottery winners.

N.C. Public Health Officials Investigating Food-Borne Disease Outbreak in Fayetteville
Fayetteville, N.C. - State and local public health officials are cautioning anyone who may have visited the Holiday Inn Bordeaux and Conference Centre restaurants at 1707 Owen Drive in Fayetteville, North Carolina since May 1 that they may have been exposed to Salmonella at the hotel or restaurants. As of May 17, health officials are aware of 51 persons who were exposed at the hotel or its restaurants and subsequently experienced symptoms consistent with Salmonella infection (described below). Five individuals have been hospitalized as a result of this outbreak. Food served at the hotel may have been from two restaurants, the All American Sports Bar and Grill and the Cafe Bordeaux, or from a banquet kitchen or room service.

Haynes wins Walmart FLW Tour at Lake Eufaula
EUFAULA, Ala. (May 19, 2013) – Pro Randy Haynes of Counce, Tenn., displayed why he is known as one of the best deep-water ledge fisherman in the country as he targeted the Lake Eufaula ledges to win convincingly Sunday at the Walmart FLW Tour at Lake Eufaula presented by Straight Talk Wireless. Haynes’ five bass weighing 16 pounds, 1 ounce gave him a four-day weight of 73 pounds, 1 ounce – 11 pounds heavier than second place – as well as the championship trophy and the $125,000 purse.
