Wrightsville Beach, N.C. ... Top beach music bands will converge on President's Day weekend at Wrightsville Beach, Feb 16-18, for the East Coast Shag Classic. The entire weekend of music and dance will provide funds for Women of Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women and their families battling cancer.
Entertainment begins on Thursday night, Feb 16, with Jim Quick and the Coastline Band. This special patron's party is open to the public. On Friday evening, the entertainment continues with The Band of Oz. Saturday's highlights include The Mark Roberts Band and The Fantastic Shakers.
Shag lessons, line dancing and great music will be provided throughout the weekend.
Wrightsville Beach Mayor, David Cignotti said: "Our oceanfront town is excited to be the location for the inaugural East Coast Shag Classic. Beach music fans will have the opportunity to dance to the best bands in the Carolinas while supporting Women of Hope, a wonderful organization that supports female cancer patients and their families. It is my hope that this event will become an annual Wrightsville Beach tradition!" The Blockade Runner Beach Resort will serve as host hotel.

FCCA, UNCC offer soccer training
Charlotte – FC Carolina Alliance (FCCA) has teamed up with the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, (UNCC) Men’s and Women’s soccer teams to bring elite soccer training to the Harrisburg area. The UNCC soccer teams assist FCCA with Munchkin and Pre Academy soccer programs for children aged 4-12 at Sports Junction in Harrisburg.
