Charlotte, NC—(September 11, 2012) The SOUTHERN WOMEN’S
SHOW (Thursday, September 20 through Sunday, September 23 at The Park
Expo and Conference Center) will feature some of the finest chefs
and bakers in the country and they’ll be offering cooking tips, how-to
secrets, newly created recipes and demonstrations involving everything
from delicious wines to tempting cookie recipes; from hot sauces to
southern homespun, old-time comfort food; from mouthwatering chicken
biscuits to hearty meats and gravies; from extraordinary desserts to
vegan meals … they’re all part of what’s new in the world of FOOD.
Orchid Paulmeier, best known for her stint on “The Next Food Network”
and owner of One Hot Mama’s Restaurant in Hilton Head, SC will share
three generations of proven favorite recipes - from brisket pulled pork
to cornbread and more - the best description is “simply spectacular!”
Vegans are more-and-more in style with new cookbooks consistently
appearing in bookstores. Fool A Carnivore by Nancy Olah is the bible
of the meatless menu. She uses the expression, “Meaty Main Dishes ---
Minus the Meat!” and provides her trademark scrumptious veggie lasagna
recipe along with hundreds of other classic meat dishes created with
garden herbs, fresh cheeses, and an impressive array of vegetables that
perfect every recipe in her cookbooks. Nancy proudly claims that Julia
Child is her culinary hero but we’re sure Julia Child would find Nancy
Olah just as much of a hero to her!
Jelly is not simply for breakfast toast and lunchtime sandwiches any
more! Nor is it used sparingly with lamb. Thanks to Bunny Powers and
her creative juices, baking with jelly is becoming the latest trend in
preparing and serving entrees, vegetables, desserts or anything
in-between. The infamous “Aunt Bunny” has published a full cookbook
titled, Eat, Drink & Have Jelly! Cooking With Aunt Bunny’s Gourmet
Wine Jelly containing recipes for such amazing foods as pork tenderloin
with malbec sauce, cherry crescent coffee cake, and a list of veggies
and desserts that will leave your mouth watering.
When it comes to culinary expertise, Chef “Culinary Carrie” is known
both as a food expert as well as an esteemed educator. As Chef
Instructor at Johnson & Wales University for almost two decades,
Carrie Hegnauer ‘s experience in cooking ranges from Polynesian dinner
cruise menus - using all fresh ingredients - to doses of wine and
spirits for all food occasions. She is passionate about “technique” ~
her favorite part of cooking ~ and she’ll share her how-to’s at the
Southern Women’s Show. To quote Carrie, “I love to help others achieve
greater culinary knowledge.” A perfect chance to learn from the expert!
The beauty of AMY LYNNE’S TOFFEE is not only the fascinating variety
of toffee items ~ candy, cakes, crunch and blondie’s blended with
chocolate or vanilla and dappled with pecans, almonds and all sorts of
yummies ~ they have the most delectable taste and light consistency.
They’ve been created by owner Amy Johnson, a Johnson & Wales Culinary
School graduate trained in top-ranked hotels to be creative and unique.
She has a passion for her toffees and so will you when you bite into
them. They’re gourmet and they’re fabulous!
Julie Busha*will launch SLAWSA into the Charlotte area. Her
infamous spicy gourmet topping ~ a fat-free, gluten-free,
cholesterol-free condiment fit for meats, dips and veggies of all kinds
~ has been met with rave reviews in other parts of the country. This
is the chance to enjoy it here and introduce it to your friends as your
most recent unique “discovery.”
The list of intriguing chefs, bakers, cooks and cookbook authors
continues with such food gurus as Lisa Shively, Stacy Cacciatore, Jason
Nain and Robin Emmons. All with recipes and cooking tips for you to
savor and enjoy --- then take home and make your own!
