Sunday, November 18, 2012 — Lena Mae Blalock Whitley, age 69, of Albemarle, N.C., died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in her home.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Open Door Baptist Church in Richfield, N.C. Rev. Nathan Hammill will officiate and burial will be in Open Door Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Stanly Funeral Home in Albemarle, N.C.
Born April 30, 1943, in Stanly County, N.C, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Gill Blalock and Eva Louise Morris Blalock.
She was a former owner and operator of Marvin Snipes Upholstery, Rock Hill, S.C.
She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. She loved people and her Lord. She enjoyed cross stitching, cooking, gardening and growing flowers.
Mrs. Whitley was married to the late Clinton Eugene Whitley, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Myra Starnes Caudle and husband Ronnie and Karen Mann and husband Eddie, all of Albemarle, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Deborah Harvey of Waxhaw, N.C. and Lisa Cline of Albemarle, N.C.; one stepson, Ronnie Whitley of Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Lawrence Blalock of Wadesboro, N.C. and Lamarr Blalock of Albemarle, N.C.; three sisters, Lillie Ann Hatley, Lois Rinehart and Linda Griffin, all of Albemarle, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Allan Starnes, Neka Parks, Dustin Caudle, Erica Tyson, Cassie Lowrance, Chase Starnes and Trey Starnes; and six great-grandchildren, Kaylee Parks, Kaidyn Parks, Kynslee Tyson, Kreed Tyson, Kendrix Caudle and Ian Caudle.
One son, Stephen Ralph Starnes and two brothers, Leroy Blalock and Larry Blalock, preceded her in death.
