Debra Faye Greene Thompson, 57, of New London, formerly of Gastonia, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center – NorthEast in Concord.
Ms. Thompson was born November 30, 1955, in Gaston County to the late Joseph Clyde Greene and the late Mae Love Smith Greene.
She was a correctional officer at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Institute in Albemarle.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at Providence Church of God, 12474 N.C. 24/27, Locust, officiated by Jimmy Herlocker. There will be a 30 minute state prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
At other times, the family will meet at the home of Jimmy Herlocker on Delancy Street, Locust.
Survivors include her companion, Allen Herlocker, of New London; her son, Douglas Smith Jr., and his wife Wendy of Oakboro; her daughters, Michele Smith Reynolds and her husband Danny of Fayetteville and Elizabeth Smith Dickson and her husband Richard of Indiana; three sisters; two brothers; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
