Della Denona Smith Casper, age 72, of Locust passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 at her home.
The family received friends from 6-8p.m. Feb. 2 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle.
The funeral was at 4 p.m. Feb. 3 at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Ron Dry officiating. Burial followed at Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
At other times the family will be meeting at her home.
Della was born in Stanly County on April 8, 1940 to the late Albert Sydney Smith and the late Eunice Ellen Blackwelder Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Casper, Jr.; her daughter, Deborah Casper; and brother, Victor James Smith.
She is survived by her son, Michael “Mike” Ray Casper and his wife, Sharon of Locust; seven siblings, Ted Smith, Frances Huneycutt, and Jerry Smith, all of Stanly County, Joe Smith, Julia Smith and Reva Honeycutt, all of Cabarrus County, James Smith of Mecklenburg County; half brother, Earl Robinson of Cabarrus County; three grandchildren, Amanda Casper Rudd of Gaston County, Daniel Casper of Stanly County, Ashley Harwood of Wake County, who is the daughter of Deborah Casper; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Casper family.
