Tuesday, January 29, 2013 — Glenn Fredrick Schmidt, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, N.C., passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Brian Center, Concord.
No formal services will be held but the family will be meeting at his home.
Born June 10, 1938, in Terrytown, N.Y., he was the son of the late Fredrick Schmidt and the late Vera Watson Schmidt.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Mary Alice Shue Schmidt of the home; sister-in-law, Barbara Newton; sons, Glenn Schmidt Jr. of Newport Richey, Fla., Randall Schmidt of Wake Forest, N.C., Gary Schmidt of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Greg Schmidt of Germany; stepsons, Floyd Furr of Nokesville, Va. and Richard Furr of Marshall, Va.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and his devoted dog, “Taffy.”
Mr. Schmidt was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was employed as a demonstrator for the grocery industry.
