Mary Estelle Carpenter Morris, age 89, of Albemarle, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle, N.C.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, in Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle. Rev. Fred Carpenter officiated and burial was in Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle.
The body will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. Friends may pay their respects during those hours.
Born October 7, 1923, in Stanly County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Jonah Lafayette and Jennie Hathcock Carpenter.
She was a graduate of Albemarle High School and a retired employee of Stanly Knitting Mills. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Albemarle.
Three sisters, Betty Haire, Bertha Burris and Alice Parnell, preceded her in death.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Louise and Jack Morris of Albemarle; and a special nephew, Jerry Haire of Locust.
