Thursday, November 29, 2012 — Emma Harkey Morton, 89, of Stanly County, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012, at Carebridge Assisted Living in Mount Pleasant.
The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, on Friday, November 30, 2012, from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jacqueline Tookey, will be at Salem United Methodist Church, Albemarle, on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Morton was born on August 5, 1923, to the late Jonah Harkey and the late Liller Harkey. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert Fetzer Morton; brothers, Ray Harkey, Hugh Harkey, Hal Harkey, Grady Harkey, Floyd Harkey, Jess Harkey, Ruby James Harkey and Claud Harkey.
She is survived by a son, Steve Morton and wife Debbie of Monroe; two daughters, Dianne Chamley and Lynn Gibson and husband Kiner, all of Albemarle; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
