Tuesday, August 31, 2010 — Mrs. Emma Lucille Burris Blake, age 81, of 2166 Woodcroft Lane, Albemarle, N.C. passed away at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle, N.C.

Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Anderson Grove Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Yates Brooks and Rev. Ron Honeycutt. Burial was in Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Pekin, N.C.

Born April 7, 1929 in Stanly County, N.C. she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Roxie Lucille Carter Burris. She was educated in Stanly County Schools, was a homemaker, and a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church.

She was married on December 18, 1948 to Alfred Bryant Blake, who survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Andrew Blake and wife Barbara of Norwood, Bernie Blake and wife Anna of Troy, and Craig Blake and wife Debbie of Albemarle; two daughters, Dianne Loflin and husband Joe of New London, and “Mary” Frances Finley and special friend Charles Lowder of Albemarle; two sisters, Zelma Johnson and Leona Goodman, both of Albemarle; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.

One brother, George Curtis Burris, preceded her in death.
