Archie Dean “AD” Plowman Jr., age 83, of New London, N.C., passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the Brian Center in Lexington, N.C.
The family received friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Monday, March 18, 2013, from 6-8 p.m.
At other times the family will meet at the home of his son, Roger Plowman, 308 Bill Badgett Road, in Denton.
The funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at First Baptist Church of New London, with Rev. Otis Goins officiating the service. The burial followed at New London Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Stanly County DAV Chapter 12.
AD was born in Stanly County on July 23, 1929, to the late Archie Dean Plowman Sr. and the late Mamie Odessa Hahn Plowman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Marie Surratt Plowman, in 2010.
He is survived by his son, Roger Plowman and his wife Michele of Denton; two grandsons, Trent and Travis Plowman of Denton; a brother, Don Plowman of New London; and two sisters, Ruth Coggin and Catherine Rogers, both of New London.
