Evelyn Greene Lowder Lesley, age 89, of Albemarle, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Stanly Manor.
The family received friends at Paul’s Crossing Baptist Church, on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 1-2 p.m. and after the burial.
The funeral service, officiated by Minister Lesley Rogers Deyton, Rev. Keith Walters, and Rev. Sid Martin, was at Paul’s Crossing Baptist Church, on Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Evelyn was born on April 16, 1923 in Stanly County, to the late Robert Greene and the late Fannie Kester Howard Greene. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil H. Lowder, in 1955 and her second husband, Rev. Sam J. Lesley, l989; and a stepson, Arnold Lesley.
Mrs. Lesley is survived by two sons, Warren Steve Lowder and wife Judy of Monroe, and Cecil H. “Buddy” Lowder, Jr. and wife Robbie of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Rebecca Lowder Rogers and husband Darrell of Fayetteville, Ga.; and a stepson, Barry Lesley of Charlotte; one brother, Houston Greene of Kentucky; two sisters, Julia Whitley of Aquadale and Jo Larson of Utah; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
