Nancy Carpenter Lowery, 79, of Richfield, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Carolina Medical Center-Northeast.
Nancy was born on December 6, 1933, in Stanly County, a daughter of the late Fred Marshall and Phronia Thelma Coley Carpenter.
Nancy was a graduate of Aquadale High School and retired from Cone Mills of Salisbury.
Nancy enjoyed cooking, baking biscuits, gardening, tending to her flowers, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Mac Carpenter and sister, Sarah Almond.
Nancy is survived by her children; sons, Freddie Smith of China Grove, Thomas Smith Jr. of Granite Quarry and Sandy Smith of Richfield: daughters, Sherry Eury and husband Terry of Norwood, Debbie Eury of Rockwell and Pamela Hunt and husband Joe of Salisbury; brother, James Carpenter and wife Carolyn of Norwood. Nancy is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Powles Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m.
There was a graveside service on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell, conducted by Mr. Bradley Williams, Youth Pastor of Canton Baptist Church, and Rev. John Melton, Pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Lowery family.
