Flossie Gardner Dennis, age 96, of Albemarle, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013, at The Home Place, Albemarle.
Her funeral was at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle. Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiated and burial was in Anderson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Saturday prior to the hour of the service.
Born April 21, 1916, in Stanly County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Zeb and Neily Gibson Gardner.
She was a homemaker and a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church. She volunteered with the homebound members of her church when her health permitted. She enjoyed sewing and was a very caring and giving person.
Mrs. Dennis was married to the late Alexander A. Dennis who preceded her in death in 1982.
Survivors include one son, Bobby E. Dennis and wife Eunice Daniels Dennis of Clarkton, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Bertha Heustess Dennis of Albemarle; one sister, Annie Lee Dennis of Albemarle; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
One son, Joe Lee Dennis, preceded her in death on October 20, 2012.
