Wednesday, February 6, 2013 —
Truly Efird Morton, 95, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully February 2, 2013, at Stanly Regional Medical Center, where her care was directed by Hospice of Stanly County.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, 6-8 p.m. at Stanly Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service will be at Silver Springs Baptist Church on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 1 p.m. and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Mark Little, the pastor, will officiate.
She was the 10th child of the late Noah Cicero Efird and Mary Ann Lowder born in the Endy community of Stanly County, where her family were members of Canton Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Carl Morton, in 1985.
She is survived by her son David R. Morton and Linda Hardin Morton of Clemmons, N.C.; a younger sister, Jewel Efird Kimery of Albemarle; grandchildren David Brack Morton of Advance, N.C. and Katherine Morton Henry of Jacksonville, Fla; great-grandchildren, David Braxton Morton, Luke Burton Morton, Katherine Rebecca Henry and Brian Burgess Holland Henry.
She was a textile worker in Stanly County during her working career and retired from Allison Manufacturing Co. in Albemarle.
After retirement she was a volunteer at Stanly Regional Medical Center for 15 years. Truly was a devoted member of Silver Springs Baptist where she attended over 80 years.
In lieu of flowers, she prefers her friends make memorials to her church.
The family would like to thank the many people involved in her care from Stanly Regional, Trinity Place and Hospice of Stanly County.
