Sunday, January 20, 2013 — VIRGINIA BEACH — Jerry Wayne Eddins, 71, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Gateway Free Will Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late John S. and Effie Hutchinson Eddins.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Walter L. Eddins of Pleasant Garden, John T. Eddins of Norwood, Franklin “Bud” Eddins of Smyrma, Ga. and Vernon Eddins of Charlotte; and sister, Mabel Pugh of Concord.
He is survived by his wife, Gail S. Eddins; son, Jerold C. Eddins; grandson, C.J. Eddins and sisters, Ann Shankle, Elizabeth Shelton and Beth Johnson.
A service to celebrate his life was January 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Gateway Free Will Baptist Church in Virginia Beach with Pastors Brent Patrick and Dale Burden officiating. Interment followed at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
The family received friends at the funeral home Monday from 6-7:30 p.m.
Mr. Eddins was a Sales Executive for Lone Star Industries and retired after 20 years and he was also retired from Water Works Supply, Inc. of Virginia after 20 more years and later taught classes at Old Dominion College in Norfolk, Va. He was a Scottish Rites Masonic Order Shriner-K.
He was a graduate of Norwood High School.
