Thursday, March 7, 2013 — MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Elizabeth “Betty” Ashby Brunson Wilson, 78, passed away March 4, 2013.
Betty was born February 12, 1935 in Albemarle, North Carolina, daughter of the late Dr. Edward Porcher Brunson and Charlotte Miles Brunson.
When Betty was a young girl, her family moved often to accommodate her father’s assignments as an officer and surgeon in the United States Army Medical Corp. When World War II ended they returned to Albemarle.
Betty attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She returned to Albemarle to become the bride of Thomas Redwine Wolfe, Jr. soon after his return from his United States Marine Corp tour of duty in Korea.
Betty has lived in Myrtle Beach for many years. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Redwine Wolfe III of Myrtle Beach and Edward Brunson Wolfe and his wife Michele of Conway; one grandson, Edward Brunson Wolfe, Jr. and his wife Melissa; a sister, Margaret Brunson Hill and her husband James of Raleigh, N.C.; nieces, Charlotte Hill Wickham, Meriwether Hill Fentress, Caroline Brunson Vlasis, Ashby Brunson Mims, Chandler Brunson and nephews, James Hill III and Edward Brunson III. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Porcher Brunson, Jr.
Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach and the Huguenot Society of South Carolina.
A memorial service was at 3 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.
