Thursday, February 9, 2012 — Paul “Wayne” Dutton Sr., 70, of Stanfield, courageously fought cancer for five years straight but February 7, 2012, at 8:08 a.m., at CMC-Main in Charlotte, N.C., His Lord took him home to be with Him.
Wayne was born on January 15, 1942 in the small town of Dawson Springs, Ky., to the late Arlie Martin and Virginia Mae Cotton Dutton. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Dutton Hamby and Lynda Dutton Dawson and special cousins Nick and Pete Smith of Dawson Springs.
He married his wife and longtime soul mate, Barbara Rhye Dutton of 45 years, and they were married in the same small town of Dawson Springs.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by sons, Jamie Dutton and special friend Charles Harshey of Seattle, Wash., Mike Mullins and wife Lynn of Albemarle, and youngest son, Paul Dutton Jr. and wife Amy of Stanfield. He was blessed with five grandchildren, whom were the love of his life; his only granddaughter, Kelsey Dutton of Stanfield, Jonathan Dutton and wife Chrissy of Raleigh, Brandon Hunsucker of Oakboro, Travis Furr and Jesse Mullins, both of Albemarle; brother, Robert Dutton of Henderson, Ky.; sister Betty Dismang of Dawson Springs Ky.; a dear aunt, Dean Dick of Dawson Springs, Ky.; and special niece, Tammie Redden, who was always there for the entire family.
Wayne owned Dutton Siding and Window Company, along with his son Paul. They worked side by side for 25 years.
He enjoyed spending time at Mr. Hainy’s with his son Mike, where he could always find something to bring home. And his eldest son Jamie, would fly from Seattle, Wash. on a regular basis to spend time with his father.
Wayne also enjoyed Drag Racing with his son Paul. Wayne had a passion for horses, but his love was with Draft Horses. Wayne had a unique connection with any animal he came into contact with.
His family was always the most important part of his life; they came first.
As per Wayne’s wishes, there will not be a traditional service. In Wayne’s honor, the family invites friends to come by Mr. Dutton’s home at 309 Hwy. 200 S., Stanfield, on Saturday, February 11 from 3-6 p.m.
