Thursday, October 11, 2012 — Dewey Robert “Bob” Corriher, age 79, of Albemarle, N.C., died at 6:45 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012, in Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle.
The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, in Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle. Rev. Fred Carpenter will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory with full military graveside rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team and also full Masonic Rites conducted by Albemarle Lodge #703.
Born February 1, 1933, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Arlie L. Corriher and Annie Mae Cole Corriher.
He was a graduate of Pfeiffer College, Misenheimer, N.C. He was a Retired Sergeant with the U.S. Army in 1989 with 39 years of service. He also ran his own business from 1995-2007 and he also worked for the Stanly County Animal Control for 15 years.
He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Albemarle, N.C. He was a member of Albemarle Lodge #703 A.F. & A.M., where he was past Master and former secretary. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, Charlotte; member of the Shriners and was active with the Stanly County Shrine Hillbillies and he was also a former member of the Stanly County School Board.
Mr. Corriher was married to Darlene Ross Corriher of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Melita Hatley and husband Michael of Stoneville, N.C. and Lori Palmer and husband Michael of Albemarle, N.C.; four grandchildren, Johnathan Hatley (Tiffany), Michael Hatley (Jackie), Jacob Palmer and Joshua Palmer; and four great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, one half brother, one sister and two half sisters preceded him in death.
