Louise Lowder Cranford, age 86, of New London, died at 6:10 a.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, in Lake Park Nursing & Rehab Center, Indian Trail, N.C.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, at First Street United Methodist Church. Rev. Leslee Wray will officiate and burial will be in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the hour of the service.
Born January 5, 1927, in Stanly County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Lawson Cornelius Lowder and Icie Jane Cody Lowder.
She was a graduate of Cabarrus School of Nursing and was a retired Registered Nurse at Stanly Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of First Street United Methodist Church, Albemarle. She loved gardening and yard work. She was formerly a member of the church choir and was very active in the life of First Street United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cranford was married to the late Carroll Jefferson Cranford who preceded her in death December 16, 1984.
Survivors include one son, Jefferson Lane Cranford and wife Stephanie of Matthews, N.C.; one daughter, Janice Cranford Russell of Albemarle, N.C.; one sister, Ramelle McDonald of Michigan; five grandchildren, Mallory Russell, Kirstie Russell, Hillary Russell, Sydney Russell and Zachary Cranford; and one great-grandson, Gabriel Mendez.
Memorials may be made to First Street United Methodist Church, 509 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
