Bill Edward Holbrooks, 78 years of age, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012, at his home in Stanfield.
Mr. Holbrooks was born October 23, 1933, in Stanly County to the late Bruner Edward Holbrooks and Martha Jane Mann Holbrooks. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, and in 2010, by his wife, Virginia Lee Hickman Holbrooks.
He was the owner of B.E. Holbrooks Company in Stanfield, a member of the Lions Club of Stanfield and a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church of Stanfield. He served as a City Council Member of Stanfield.
He was also a retired Lt. Col. with the Air National Guard as a pilot for 29 years and a squadron commander.
The family received friends Sunday, October 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be Monday, October 8 at 2 p.m., with a 30 minute state prior to the service, at First Baptist Church of Stanfield, officiated by Rev. Bruce League. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
At other times, the family will meet at the home.
Survivors include his sons, Brad and wife Melissa Holbrooks and Brent and wife Dot Holbrooks, all of Stanfield; his sister, Mary Sides and her husband Larry of Stanfield; his brother-in-law, Jack Hartsell of Midland; and grandchildren, Byron and Courtney and Hailey and Kc, all of Stanfield.
