Monday, December 3, 2012 —
Margaret Barringer Almond, 87, of Albemarle went home to be with her Lord on November 30, 2012.
A celebration service to honor her life was held Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Union Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Ross Tracy and Rev. Dave Hobson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends after the service in the church sanctuary.
Mrs. Almond was born September 17, 1925 to Lillie Mae Miller and Eunice Collier Barringer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jesse James Almond in 1988. A sister, Ethel B. Reap, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Gary and wife, Christi Almond of Albemarle; two daughters, Joyce A. Poplin of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jan and husband, Jimmy Eudy of Albemarle; two grandchildren, Michelle Ratliff and Tiffanie Putnam; four great-grandchildren, Chad Poplin, Amber Nettles, Camden and Aiden Putnam; and a great-great-grandchild, Kaleb Poplin. She is also survived by two brothers, Lane Barringer of Mt. Gilead and Ben Barringer of Albemarle.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mar-garet enjoyed life to the fullest extent. She loved her church family and was active in the United Methodist Women and Crafty Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry. Her joy was crocheting prayer shawls for others.
The family would like to thank Hospice for their loving care and support during her illness.
