Monday, February 11, 2013 —
Marilyn Sue Smith Underwood, age 57, of Albemarle, died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, in Carolinas Medical Center-Main, Charlotte.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013, at First Lutheran Church, Albemarle. Rev. John Futterer will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle.
The family will receive friends in the church parlor of the First Lutheran Church on Monday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the hour of the service.
Born March 4, 1955, in Stanly County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Evelyn Kimrey Smith.
She was a graduate of Albemarle High School and Stanly Community College with a degree in Registered Nursing. She was an employee of Stanly Regional Medical Center until her disability and a member of First Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Underwood was married to H. Vernon Underwood of the home. Other survivors include one son, Kenneth Vernon Underwood of the home; one stepson, James Herbert Underwood II of Atlanta, Ga.; and two sisters, Linda Giles and husband Jerry of Albemarle and Susan Smith and husband Kevin of Salisbury.
The family requests memorials be made to the Annie K. Honeycutt Scholarship Fund, c/o First Lutheran Church, 230 S. Second St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
