James Carol Whitley, 78, of Albemarle, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at CMC-NorthEast.
The family received friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, January 31, 2013, from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Rick Clough, Rev. Mike Madaris, Rev. Pete Brouillette and Rev. Stoney Benfield, will be at Bethany United Methodist Church on Friday, February 1, 2013, at 4 p.m. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
At other times, the family will meet at his home.
Mr. Whitley was born on July 25, 1934, in Albemarle, to the late James Daniel Whitley and the late Sara Eleanor Huneycutt Whitley.
James is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norene “Beanie” Whitley of the home; one son, Steve Whitley of New London; two grandchildren, Anna Whitley of Fayetteville and Brandon and fiancé Carmen of Albemarle; five siblings, Buford Whitley of Oakboro, Jewel Purser, Madge Whitley and Patsy Whitley, all of Albemarle and Betty Almond of Ridgecrest.
Mr. Whitley was owner and operator of James Whitley’s Upholstery Shop for 58 years.
