Roy Carlie Still Sr., age 91, of Albemarle, died at 9:03 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in his home.
A graveside service with full military rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team was at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle. Pastor Bill Baldwin and Pastor Bryan Wright officiated.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle.
Born August 12, 1921, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late William Allen Still and Lillie Thompson Still.
He was a graduate of Albemarle High School and a retired employee of Still Oil Company.
He was a charter member of Second Street Presbyterian Church, Albemarle. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII. In his retirement, he enjoyed visiting nursing homes and for many years called Bingo at the nursing homes.
Mr. Still was married to the late Rubye Anderson Still who preceded him in death April 28, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Roy C. “Scooter” Still Jr. of Albemarle; two daughters, Kathy McAlister of Clinton, S.C. and Starr S. Wagoner and husband Gary of Badin; three sisters, Blanche Blalock of Kings Mountain and Cherry Lawrence and Betty Lou Harrington, both of Albemarle; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Stanly Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
