Sunday, December 30, 2012 — John Monroe Bowers, 65, of Red Cross, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012, at home.
The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, on Sunday, December 30, 2012, from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Garry Baker, will be at Red Cross Baptist Church, Oakboro, on Monday, December 31, 2012, at 2 p.m. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Red Cross Baptist Church Cemetery.
At other times, the family will meet at his home.
Mr. Bowers was born on September 20, 1947, to the late Loys Preston and the late Lillie Mae Bowers.
John is survived by two loving daughters, Trish Morgan and husband Kevin and Tracy Efird, all of Oakboro; his former wife, Susan Cay Bowers of Land O Lakes, Wis.; a brother, Lee Bowers and wife Nancy of Richfield; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was the owner and operator of Eudy’s Garage for 30 years.
