Clara Mae Howell Throneburg, 92, of Norwood, passed away Sunday night, December 23, 2012, at Stanly Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood and burial followed in Concord United Methodist Cemetery. The family received friends from 10-11 a.m., one hour prior to the service at Edwards Funeral Home.
Mrs. Throneburg was born March 6, 1920, in Anson County to the late William Marshall and Nora Mae Colson Howell.
She was the salutatorian of Ansonville High School, class of 1938. She was a retiree of the Norwood Department Store and a member of Concord United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Throneburg was a lady that spent her life caring for the needs of others. In recent years, she had the opportunity to spend time with her daughter and her family, taking trips to Coastal North Carolina, where she especially loved Cape Lookout and the Outer Banks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, D.F. Throneburg; and son, Randy Throneburg; sister, Ethel Kennedy; brothers, Siler, Cliff, Ray, Pete, Elmer and Sam Howell.
She is survived by her daughter, Emily Turner and husband Richard of Norwood; granddaughters, Kendra T. Whitley and husband Don and Melissa Jo Huneycutt and husband Scottie; three great-grandchildren, Megan Todd, Seth Todd and Wesley Huneycutt; and one great-great-grandchild, Matthew Olsen Todd.
