Wallace Bruce Snuggs, 73, of Mt. Gilead, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Trinity Place, Albemarle.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Harris and Rev. Fred Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Born August 1, 1939, in Anson County, N.C., he was the son of the late Bruce Snuggs and Lila Gaddy Snuggs and was a retired employee of Jeffries Associates.
He was educated at Norwood High School and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. A member of Main Street United Methodist Church, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, member of Blackmer Lodge #127 A.F. and A.M. and an active member of the Shriners. He was a Shrine Character and member of the Hospitality Committee for the Oasis Temple and took great pride in assisting and transporting children to Cincinnati to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
He also enjoyed gardening, beekeeping and attending Jimmy Buffett concerts with his daughter.
Mr. Snuggs is survived by his wife, Shirley Guyer Snuggs, of the home; daughter, Matoka Ann Snuggs of Raleigh; sister, Barbara Snuggs Mosely and husband Burt of Matthews; and a niece and nephew. Also surviving is his faithful companion, Mitzi.
