Monday, December 3, 2012 —
Donnie Warren Smith, 60, of Norwood, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 30, 2012 as the result of a house fire.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Red Cross Baptist Church. Rev. Lowell Brown will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 28, 1952 in Stanly County to the late Flave Smith and Vernie Love Smith who survives of Oakboro. Mr. Smith was a retiree of Stanly Fixtures and was a member of the Aquadale Fire Department and First Responders for 15 years. He attended Green Memorial Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Helms Smith.
In addition to his mother he is survived by sons, Donnie “Charlie Brown” Smith and wife, Myra, of Norwood, David Smith and wife, Laura, of Oakboro and Stacy Smith and wife, Cassandra, of Albemarle; sister, Wanda Burnette of Oakboro; and seven grandchildren.
