KERNERSVILLE – Mrs. Mable Juanita Carriker, 86, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Piney Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Juanita was born July 12, 1926, in Stanly County to the late Tola Israel and Daisy Hinson Efird.
She loved gardening, harvesting and sharing her many vegetables and flowers. Juanita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, taking great pride in raising her family and adored her grandchildren!
In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her husband, Carol Vick Carriker Sr.; two sons, Carol V. “Chip” Carriker Jr. (wife, Wendy) and Kelvin D. Carriker (wife, Cynthia); two grandchildren, Melanie Stevens (husband, Trent) and Megan Carriker; and one sister, Ruby Almond.
A funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb-ruary 6, 2013, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Chaplain Ken Brad-stock officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. An additional service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Albemarle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at St. Martin’s Lutheran in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to a charity of donor’s choice.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Piney Grove Nursing Home for the loving care they gave to Juanita during her stay there.
