Claudine “Deaner” Hartsell Corl, 86, of Rockwell, passed away on December 24, 2012, at the Rockingham County Hospice Home.
Deaner was born on June 4, 1926, in Concord, a daughter of the late Farrington and Lela Whitley Hartsell.
Deaner attended Richfield High School and retired from Calanese. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwell and was active with the Senior Ladies when she was able.
In addition to her parents Deaner is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde William “Hoey” Corl on March 26, 2012; brother, Clyde Hartsell; and sisters, Evelyn Hartsell and Rudy Hartsell Whitley. Deaner is survived by her brother, Boyce and wife Margaret Hartsell of Concord; sisters, Helen Parker and Jean Furr of Albemarle; special friends, Junior and Patsy Hatley of Gold Hill.
Deaner had been living in Reidsville with her great-nephew, Whit Whitley and wife Cindy, they along with their daughter, Hannah Evans were blessed and honored with being Deaner’s caregivers the past 10 months. Her presence in their lives will be sorely missed.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Powles Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Benny Vickrey, retired and Rev. Matthew Laughter, pastor of First Baptist Church Rockwell. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church of Rockwell cemetery.
The family received friends on Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 1-2 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home.
