Truck strikes building

No injuries after dump truck crash

Wednesday, February 7, 2012 — A local business was damaged Saturday when it was struck by a dump truck, according to Albemarle Police. No one was injured during the incident, though.

According to the accident report, Kelly Marcus Hudson, 42, of Norwood, was attempting to start a dump truck that was situated in the gravel area behind Huneycutt’s Auto,  970 W. Main St., Albemarle.

When the truck started, however, it began to “freewheel,” or roll, backwards, striking the rear corner of the building. The incident caused approximately $20,000 in damages to the building.

Due to the the instability of the scene, the truck was not immediately removed from the building, police said.

No one was charged in the incident.
