What began as a traffic stop led to an Albemarle Police officer recently making an arrest for felony drug possession.
The driver of the vehicle, Roderick Deon Clark, 33, was arrested on felony charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver both cocaine and marijuana, according to Albemarle Police Department.
Police Chief William Halliburton said Officer Cleaver, who made the arrest, has been “doing a great job” in relation to drug arrests as of late.
Halliburton said when Cleaver approached the vehicle, he recognized an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
“The officer got the suspect out of the vehicle and patted him down and found that the suspect had plastic bags of marijuana and three separate bags of crack cocaine,” Halliburton said.
Once all the drugs were measured, Halliburton said that the drugs totaled seven grams of marijuana and 13 grams of crack cocaine, estimated to be about $1,300 in value.
Following the arrest, which was made on U.S. 52 S., Clark was transported to the Stanly County Jail where he was placed on a $25,000 secured bond.
