Albemarle woman faces larceny charges

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 — An Albemarle woman was arrested recently on charges of felony larceny, according to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office received a report of a larceny, in which the victim reported that her roommate had stolen approximately $3,100 worth of jewelry, and had sold it to a local pawn shop.

Upon investigating the report, detectives were able to locate and recover some of the stolen property at two local pawn shops. They were also able to identify the suspect as Whitney Anne Ballard, 25, of Arey Avenue, Albemarle.

Ballard was arrested on Feb. 13, and was charged with felony larceny and obtaining property by false pretense. She was issued a $2,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Stanly County District Court on Feb. 27.
