Cheer Corps Allstars, a nationally ranked competitive cheerleading team is hosting Toy Soldier Trot, a 5K Race/Walk and a One Mile Fun Run on Saturday, December 1st at 8:30am in Albemarle. The race will begin at High Rock Community Church located at 1510 Moss Springs Road in Albemarle.
Registration is $20 for the 5K Race/Walk and $5 for the Fun Run and open to participants until the day of the race.
Participants will receive a free race t-shirt as well as a goodie bag.
The proceeds from the registration fees will benefit each Cheer Corps athlete. "The cost per cheerleader can be as much as $1,500 to compete annually" said Tammy Hogan, owner Cheer Corps Allstars, "this is a big expense for families; however, our cheerleaders have been nationally ranked for eight years and internationally for three years and love the thrill of friendly competition and victory.”
Upon registration for the race, each participant can choose a cheerleader who will receive a portion of the registration fee and those left blank will be shared among the entire team.
Cheer Corps is asking that each participant bring a new $10, unopened toy to be donated to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation who will distribute the toys to less fortunate children in the community.
