On Aug. 31, U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell (NC-08) brought Singapore’s Ambassador to the United States to Stanly County to meet with economic development officials and take part in an economic development roundtable.
“I am committed to promoting our area and our economy, and showing to the world the opportunities and resources we have here,” said Kissell.
“To be able to present the advantages of our regional economy and workforce on an international scale is important to our continued recovery. We’re telling the world we’re fighting to overcome the bad trade deals of the past and get our economy back on its feet. I am determined to bring foreign investment and capital into the Eighth District to offset the jobs bad trade deals allowed to go overseas in the first place.”
The group discussed the economic bonds of the United States and Singa-porean nations, as well as opportunities to promote our local economy worldwide.
Kissell hosted Ambassa-dor Chan Heng Chee for a three day tour of North Carolina’s Eighth District as part of a series of “Reverse Trade Missions” he has hosted since taking office. The trade missions have allowed many international diplomats and business leaders to see the region firsthand, helping stimulate and promote the local economy and small businesses.
