Albemarle Police arrested two individuals in relation to a robbery of a pizza delivery driver that occurred earlier this year, according to Albemarle Police Chief William Halliburton.
Halliburton explained that a delivery driver for Pizza Hut attempted to make a delivery to a residence at 266 N. Fifth St., Albemarle, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 16.
According to the investigation report, the delivery driver knocked on the door of the residence, but the home owner replied that they had not ordered a pizza.
“As the driver was getting back into his vehicle, two black males confronted him, and held a gun to his neck. They demanded he hand over the pizza, his cell phone and money. The driver complied but as he was driving away, one of the suspects punched him in the face,” Halliburton said.
“Detective Cook investigated and with some really good police work, we were able to make two arrests.”
The two suspects arrested were Keaundre Tyree Charles McKillian, 18, of Albemarle but formerly of Santa Monica, Cali., and Jatwane Demetrius Cole, 17, of Albemarle. Both were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Both men were taken to the Stanly County Jail and were issued a $20,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on March 12.
An investigation into both suspect’s gang ties is still ongoing, Halliburton said.
