Sunday, January 3, 2010 — CONCORD — Congressman Larry Kissell (NC-08) has announced that Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare will receive a Shelter Plus Care Renewal grant for $84,744 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to continue to provide housing and supportive services to homeless individuals with disabilities.
PBH services Cabarrus, Davidson, Rowan, Stanly and Union counties.
“Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare serves a vital role to our communities. They help our citizens who are most in need,” Kissell said.
“It is important to see this funding come to the Eighth District.”
The grant is part of the Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance competitive programs which provide funding for a range of assistance to homeless persons, including transitional housing, permanent housing and a variety of supportive services.
The Shelter Plus Care Renewal Grant is designed to provide housing and supportive services on a long-term basis for homeless individuals with disabilities, specifically those individuals with serious mental illness, chronic problems with drugs and alcohol and AIDS.
