Thursday, November 26, 2009 — Artist Don Moore of Salisbury will show his paintings at the Agri-Civic Center on N.C. 24-27 Dec. 1 through Dec. 30. The public can view his work from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays and other open hours free of charge.
Originally from Birmingham, Ala., Moore received his BFA and MA degrees from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
He did additional studies in Art History at the University of Georgia and studied painting and drawing at the Art Student's League of New York.
Moore retired after 32 year as the Art Program Coordinator at Mitchell Community College, Statesville.
He is a Juried Member of the Associated Artists of Winston-Salem and a member of the Pastel Society of North Carolina.
His paintings have been shown widely in the area and in National Juried Shows in Winston-Salem, and in Memphis and Knoxville, Tenn.
The works shown here will be from the series called “the Quest.” A one-person showing of paintings from this series were exhibited at the Waterworks Visual Arts Center, Salisbury. These paintings have a surreal quality and are described as “derived from dreams and coincidence.”
The paintings combine images from a collection of old photographs and European etchings into Post-Modern nostalgic images.
Many of the paintings shown here are new and have not been exhibited before.
